Instagrids

Due to the accessibility of the internet and the ease of connecting with others, users constantly submit images to many image sharing websites, thereby creating a massive overflow of images. Our own cherished experiences are placed on view for friends, family, and strangers to see. However, with everyone wanting to share their experiences, our personal photographs get lost in the sea of images. Our memories and experiences become insignificant when place in the context of large numbers of people experiencing the same situations in different ways. These digital collages, by collecting files from image sharing sites and sorting them based on their tags, show the massive tidal wave of imagery that is posted on a constant basis. Through this, I show how easy it is for images to get lost in others’ similar images.
